A musician whose reputation precedes him. Brilliant, fearless, genre-defying, with a track record of multi-platinum and gold albums. One of the few artists to have won a string of ECHO awards in both classical and pop categories. Now star violinist David Garrett is back with a new recording, IconicThis version is a limited edition fan box. As well as a signed copy of the deluxe digisleeve CD (featuring three bonus tracks and complete with 12-page booklet with notes about the recording project and photos of the artist), this contains one of 200 exclusive tickets to see David Garrett live in concert in Berlin (Concertdate in November 2022); an Iconic 2023 desk calendar; an album poster and stickers; and an Iconic-branded 3D meditation eye mask. David Garrett here pays tribute to the great violinists of the golden age – 20th-century legends such as Heifetz, Kreisler and Menuhin. He presents a personal selection of gems of the repertoire – atmospheric miniatures and virtuoso showpieces by Bach, Gluck, Mendelssohn, Schumann, Dvořák and Kreisler, among many more. Specially arranged for violin, guitar and orchestra, these pieces take on a new, unique and intimate feel. Garrett is accompanied by his guitarist Franck van der Heijden, who also directs OrchestraThe Prezent. “I’ve recorded many virtuoso albums myself,” says the violinist. “This time it was particularly important to me to refocus on the essentials, on what really speaks to the heart.” Garrett duets with his former teacher ItzhakPerlman, star tenor Andrea Bocelli, flautist Cocomi and trumpeter Till BrönnerIconic is released by Deutsche Grammophon on 4 November 2022.
